last week i spent exactly 35 hours away from my house on an "international" business trip to canada (tell me you've seen that office episode where michael goes to toronto?) anyway of that time, 12 hours was in the hotel where i presented, including sleep time... so needless to say it was a bit of a nightmare. i was in 5 airports, got the full body security scan 4 times and didnt eat (or actually SEE) a vegetable for the duration. lovely.
saturday morning i woke up feeling way out of gas. on the docket was a 10 mile "getting faster" run. i thought i could muster it, but when my warm up pace and my get going pace were the same, and i could not will myself to go any faster.... i called it a day. a very disappointing day.
i swam the Nuclear swim. one mile. murky waters. weedy waters. still not feeling super sassy.. more dizzy and lackluster... i went early to help with registration. everything went off pretty well. i was hoping for a decent swim and actually for a little while thought i was having one - i was swimming alongside angie who usually beats me.. so i thought hmmm better. turns out she's been on vacay and had a few glasses of wine still in her. translation: crap swim. nice.
i watched shutter island. decent movie. not the same caliber as inception. but the same leo performance. really. could have done with just one movie. it did remind me alot of our trip to alcatraz and then last year drachau. some of those movies you wonder if half way thru they realize its not goign anywhere and they sure as hell better start to figure things out so it all kind of wraps up way to fast...
the lawyer who helped us to refinance our house lives next door to bill cowher. not sure if thats a good sign or a sign he makes too much money. but regardless it was interesting to get a perspective on the family, or well the family sans bill, as he traveled most of the time up until recently when he got his cushy tv job. god bless the chin.
in other steeler news, if you have yahoo as your home page you may have seen the story about troy's hair and the policy. my job is full of people who think they are funny (most arent as evidenced here).

a little shout out to the angels who keep me sane and laughing. cheers.
