P-R

P-ersonal R-ecord

as in had one in the pool this morning. fridays are fast at TAC, and well when i arrived this morning there were a ton of swimmers on the wall. 2 things stood out immediately - one: there was a guy with a black swim cap with the US flag and his name on it. like the ones they wear at the olympics. holy cow. two: bri was in the slow lane. ruh roh. so my lane choices were very fast, lightening fast or super sonic. the good news is we jumped over and made our own lane. i learned, sort of, how to butterfly kick on my back. kind of feels like im having a ceasure so might need to work on that a bit. but the main point today was the "surprise" at the end. 3x 100 for time. long story short, when i was coming back to the wall i hear marty yelling 128, 129 and i thought CRAP. that is slow. slow. especially when US cap guy is breaking a minute. BUT *lightbulb* my smarty lane mate pointed out that i was leaving 10 seconds behind the original group so my times were actually 118 -119. so that is huge for me. HUGE. i'll say it again HUGE. my previous best (while doing the chicken wing) was 121. so maybe just maybe i'm learning something from all the barrel blogs and feeling water frenzies and well just plain swimming more this year.

P-hoto R-etouching

i was in NY this week (many of you saw the travel fiasco on FB... but no need to go into that here...) meeting with our ad agency. they took us on a studio tour and we got to see one of the industry's best photo retouchers. this lady is magical. really. she showed us the before and afters. she can remove an entire piano from a photo and recreate stucco. NOT EASY. even jennifer garner, fully made up by a professional, great lighting, great photographer gets things done. her neutrogena ads - well never beleive what you see. this lady eliminates pores, brightens eyes, evens out lips, fills in wrinkles, crops ears, gives them a haircut.. you name it. she even adds in the make up! they shoot them "bare" faced and she adds in the colors depending on the season or product line. crazy.

P-rotesting R-efridgerator

ours is. it punked out monday night. or possibly earlier. i had noticed the frozen veg getting a little soft and told bobby. its fine he says. ummm ok. monday afternoon i came home for lunch and well even the frosty paws were somewhat tropical. after moving all the important stuff (ie maple view farms chocolate milk) to the fridge in the garage i called bobby. "i'll take a look at it". long story short after a quick glance and a short conversation with one of his maintainance guys at work we are getting a new fridge. probably not one of the fancy bottom freezer door ones that i want though. but at least something that will keep my smart dogs cold!

P-uppy R-etrieval

yep left the girls out front un attended when i was cleaning out the gu wrappers from my car. 30 minutes later and a few "wonder where the girls are" panic struck till we found them on the back side of the fence on the greenway checking out the newly cut down weeds. oooooopppppsss!

P-retty R-eady

to get out of here today. long week. made even longer by afore mentioned trip to ny. no one is here today (we get the option to FLEX on friday if we take short lunches during the week). sooooo after a botched attempt to watch office re runs with a co worker and booking a hotel for an upcoming trip (FUN trip though yippie!) and sending out a few trillion emails (to friends of course) i'm pretty much ready to hit the road... and get the weekend started...

Well this was a very fun and creative post! First, Marty also confirmed that you did a 1:17 on the last one. Second, OMG about the ads! Why even bother using any real person? All's it does is make the rest of us feel bad about being so un-perfect. Too bad that person can't retouch in real life ;) You're job is so much more interesting than mine.

Great job on the new PR Kari!! Woo-hooo!! It's always nice to know that after what seems like millions of laps and countless hours following a black line, improvement does eventually come in swimming...if even just for a second or two... :)

I need that photo toucher upper - real bad. ;)

Holy cow - those ads are really like that? I'm with Bri and Beth on that one. Ugh.

Glad that the puppies are okay and good luck with the new fridge! Ours has been leaking something - but I don't have the heart to figure out what. Hhhhmmmmmm. That's what guys are for, right?!?
