what a weekend

after getting called out for skipping masters on friday morning (though i will state for the record that it was not on my schedule for the week!) i went to the somewhat but not entirely nasty golds gym pool and did my own little workout. was happy to see my 100 times have come back to my normal pace (thats SLUG for most of you though!)but more importantly i think i'm cured. hallelujah!! its about time.

friday my hard drive crashed at work - first thing- so i was left with out a computer and well nothing to do. ok so maybe i could have organized or something.. but thats lame. so i did a few work errands (yes they were related directly to my job!) and then took a long lunch to catch up on nothing- but a very satisfying nothing- then headed back to the office for a meeting. see i wish my job was like this all of the time where if i maybe dont have a lot to do i can leave for a while.

saturday i headed out west a bit to ride with Bri and Alysia. we had planned this so called ice cream ride a few weeks ago and i was really looking forward to it. well assuming Alysia would not get us lost.. hmmm...

we drove about 30 minutes outside of raleigh and parked at the infamous maple view farm store. oh wow. knowing this is waiting for you at the end of any ride makes it well worth the time.

we were really out in the sticks.. tons of super tall corn fields and of course some barking dogs running really fast looking like they want to knaw on a bikers limb... we stopped alot for pictures...probably more than we should have.. but how often do you pass by a real life POW WOW? and one that smelled like funnel cake...

this photo took meticulous planning and three real attempts before working out. its logistically pretty tough to self take a photo of all three of us riding down the road, when A you're not exactly sure when the camera is clicking, B one of you has to actually press the button and then do a major U turn and C you have to balance the camera on a very rickety mailbox. coordination is fantastically intricate...and only made more difficult with the prospect of laughing so hard you fall off your bike...

it was all worth it for probably the best ice cream and chocolate milk i've ever had. cookies and cream and mocha.. mmmmmmmmmm. even brought a jug of milk home for the week. truly solely for my recovery needs-- only. ha!

today i followed bri and kara (another fasty) around turkey creek trail for oh about 11 miles... some serious hills, hills that are not only steep but seemed to keep getting longer and longer. those and the fact that it was about 95 degrees out and 300% humidity... lead to one tired chick.... BUT

there was shopping to do... so off to the mall. its tax free weekend here in NC. which people seem to freak out over a bit to much. i mean really when you think about it you are not saving that much money.. unless you're buying a computer or something.. but definately not worth getting riled up over..

anyway the weekend is over. booo... BUT that does mean its one weekend closer to the start of football season.. so depends on how you look at things.. perspective.

off to eat some taco salad for dinner.

Dairyland is my old riding area. Those pics really made me miss it. Looks like you had a great ride.

I am an excellent influence: I change her tube, I make her chase me up super steep hills and I force her to eat warm butterscotch brownie and chocolate cake.
