i think i've reached an all time low. me. not being able to write about nothing. and make it enjoyable. much like seinfeld did back in the day. and the office does now.
i did have one of the best sunday's i've had in a while. started out about 8 am when i drove out to north durham to meet brooke (kona bound!) for a long ride. i was looking forward to some good company and a good change of pace. it gets pretty tiresome riding the same roads all the time, no matter what route you take! so we started off with her friend keith in tow, keith who is super biker, doing something called the furnace 500 soon. yes that is biking 500 miles thru death valley. nice. he broke off about an hour in.
the ride was good. tough. with a head wind that was unrelentless and caused us to cease riding side by side and take turns pulling. i always worry that i'm going too slow and messing up the pace. but brooke is so reassuring and its a great compliment coming from her that you are riding well. we covered some pretty wild hills, with the final killer being the street she lives on. god bless her for climbing this monster every time she comes back from a ride. it would be the death of me on most days.
on the way home i stopped at the BP to pick up some ice. 30 lbs of ice. the indian dude at the register didnt quite understand what i wanted to do with all of it and for some reason was hell bent on figuring it out before he would complete the sale. DUDE just ring it up! so one glorious ice bath later the day could truly begin. and that it did. with an afternoon of football. and chores. and dog time. and well just truly taking it easy. the steelers had already played and won thursday night so it was nice to just kind of sort of pay attention. i went out and got what i thought would be a lovely pizza that turned out to be a soggy, un-mushroom-covered mess. good thing i had the mint ice cream sandwiches in the freezer. perfect. i had the good intention to get a hair cut but that will have to wait until another day. cant pack to much activity into a sunday after all!
the night ended with some plans made for an upcoming trip to see a very good friend in switzerland. a trip that i cannot wait to go on. one that i know will be so much fun. one that i know both bobby and i deserve after a tough year with work and some personal highs and lows and well just some time completely away.
ive got one last race this year. one i hope will help to erase some of the let downs of the season thus far. one more race and then, well, who knows. some time off. a trip out west to hang with some fun boys :) and then well deciding what next year will bring. but right now i'm focused on the one in 2 weeks. just 2 runs and a bike left in the year. lets hope i can make them count.

You can tell where my mind is...I read your title to be ICE CREAM in bulk, and then i am thinking "mint sandwiches, that isnt bulk? what is she thinking..that is portion control." Obviously It is dessert time here.
Cant wait to discuss more of 2010 ( tucson!) and also that is super cool about Switzerland!
Your last Du will be the creme de la creme ( served with some bulk ice cream.)
Hey - your food selection sounds SPOT ON. And pretty much what I did the previous weekend :)
I am SO EXCITED for your final race - its been a long season, I know...but you'll do great! You are so strong Kari...you can do it!!
